Auden Elijah RovelleQuartz
Auden RovelleQuartz is amongst other things, an accomplished concert violinist and violin instructor.
MUSICAL ESPERIENCE:
Auden has performed in numerous string chamber ensembles, he has played in several orchestras, including the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, and first violin in the award-winning Columbus Indiana Philharmonic (CIP), and he has given numerous violin recitals here in these united states of America, and abroad.
He has over twenty years experience as a violin instructor. He has students that has auditioned for and played with the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra program. He was a part of the team that founded the CIP's new Youth Strings Program program.
He is a highly sought after freelance artist and regularly participates in quality productions. In 2005 Auden was concertmaster for a critically-acclaimed South Suburban Chorale performance of Mozart's Mass in c-minor, and later that same year he was also concertmaster for the Christmas radio broadcast of Handel's Messiah at Valparaiso University, both events directed and produced by Al Jackson. He also plays first violin with the South Side Community Orchestra and has performed in various chamber ensembles at many places including the Berverly Arts Institute, the South Shore Cultural Center, the Curtis Recital Hall, the DuSable Museum, the Museum of Science and Industry, Millenium Park and amongst several others.
Auden is currently working towards a solo violin CD entitled "In His Name" featuring Christian sacred selections; this project is due to be released second quarter of 2008.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:
Auden began studying the violin at the age of five, taking his first lessons with Hungarian violin virtuoso Francois D'Albert; throughout his elementary school years he studied at the Sherwood Conservatory of Music, and the Kodaly Strings Institute. He has also studied privately with several prominent violinists including Henryk Kowalski, Jennifer Carsillo, David Myford, Sheban Lupu, Mark Zinger and Cyrus Forough.
He received his college preparatory education from the Chicago Seventh-day Adventist Academy, graduating in three years with the academy's highest honors. While pursuing his undergraduate college engineering studies, Auden additionally took a concentration in violin performance, earning over 25 credits of advanced violin performance classes with a perfect 5.0 gpa.
He has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, which he attended as a Presidential Award Scholar. He also has a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
OTHER PERSONAL INFO:
Auden started his engineering career at Cummins Engine Company (1993-1998) in Columbus Indiana; he was awarded a U.S. patent while at Cummins. Auden worked for General Motors (1998-2005) as a Senior Systems Test Engineer. He currently works as a Project Engineer at Electro-Motive.
Auden is married to Marina. Together they have four daughters: Jessica, identical twins Jacqueline and Joselyn, and Janelle. Outside of family, work, and violin performance, Auden has a few other interests: martial arts - - particularly Tae Kwon Do (he holds a first-degree black belt in that combat style), libertarian philosophy, and chess - - which he immensely enjoys.
